The Great Australian Internet Blackout
From January 25th to 29th, certain Australian websites will “blackout” in protest of the governments proposed internet censorship. This website will be one of those websites! I have also changed my Twitter and Facebook profiles to reflect my disgust that the Australian government is going ahead with this, proven to be useless, filter. And to think, I actually helped vote this out of touch government in. They may be doing some good things but when it comes to technology, they’re all dim-witted idiots. Well, mainly Conroy and Atkinson really.
I urge anyone with a Facebook profile, a Twitter profile or a personal website to join in the campaign next week by going to The Great Australian Internet Blackout website and do your part for this worthy cause. Imagine an internet where Google or Youtube or Wikipedia was banned. Steam and other digital download services removed from the face of the Australian internet! The only thing stopping our internet from being censored worse than the Chinese is us. We need to show this government that they are out of touch with the digital and technological world and stand up for our rights for once.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
This afternoon my fiance and I were taken to see “Cloudy with a chance of meatballs” at the cinemas with my two best friends. It’s a Sony Pictures film and it absolutely hilarious. It is like no other film I have seen and to be honest I think it rivals Dreamworks and Pixar. The animation was really well cone and the story well thought out. At no part of the movie did I feel bored or lost. And what’s even better is that it teaches kids a very valuable lesson.. well two of them. One is to be yourself and the other to always believe in yourself. Those are crucial to a child’s development and it’s good to see them in films today. I watched a teen chick flick that was released not long ago and was disgusted at the story behind the movie because it taught little girls that they have to be popular to be happy. Made me sick. Which is why I love films like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. A real movie. I’d recommend it for everyone.
Another After Midnight Update
So, the day was a scorcher. Would have been at least 38 degrees+ in the house when I arose around midday. Thankfully an afternoon storm rolled though around 3pm and toned the temperature down at least 5 degrees which made things so much bearable.
Saw most of that “Inglorious Basterds” movie last night. As long winded as it was, and slow, I thought it was very cleverly written. Had a few cool twists which kept you thinking right to the end… I loved the ending. I’d recommend it. I loved Brad Pitt’s accent in it tho, the faake southern american, then when he had to pretend to be italian on top, it was hilarious.
My back pains. I played WoW for the first time in ages this evening and I have sharp back pains from sitting in this chair for so long XD. I am only up to level 13. Thought I was higher tan that, how embarrassing…LOL
American Beauty
Oh where do I start about that movie. It was good, not great, not bad, just good….i think the words I am looking for are “completely fu@#ed”. I thought fight club was a screwed up movie. American Beauty takes the award for movie with the most messed up story line. The book must have been an awesome read because you would have been able to really get into the minds of all those screwed up people. Makes me feel thankful for having a mildly normal life with fairly average parents and good friends. The daughter is the only normal person in the film. Her friend is beyond full of herself, the mum has to take the pole outa her ass, the dad is clueless, the neighbours mum lost it years ago, the neighbours dad is a war veteran that needs therapy, the neighbour has a mind too open for a healthy teenager.
My verdict – not going to watch it again unless flicking channels. Too screwed up of an art film for my liking.
Bridget Jones
Ok, so I was watching Bridget Jones again, yes again for the 3 millionth time. Made me want to start a diary, like a proper one. I used to keep one as a child, a proper daily diary, although as I was between nine and thirteen so most of the pages were about my crush of the month and things that happened at school between friends. At least as an adult I’d hope the content is a bit better in quality XD.
Thing about this movie, Bridget Jones’s Diary is that it’s probably the one film every girl can relate to. We all embarrass ourselves at some point in our lives and as Bridget almost makes it into a profession. I cringe so much in this movie with the situations she gets herself into….watching the second one now and Bridget has just lost control on the ski slope. So funny. I could never decide between Mark and Daniel tho. One has such a free spirit and is so fun loving and the other has such a grasp on adult life. My wonderful fiancé is a bit of both. I love him so.
Watching her in this movie makes me think of what I have. I am so very thankful and lucky to have my man. Sure we have our troubles, not everyone is perfect and the perfect relationship is a fairy tale which will never happen but the thing is I like my non-perfect relationship, my non-perfect fiancé and my non-perfect life. I do complain but I couldn’t imagine any of it any other way. As I’ve always said.. I’d rather life be difficult and interesting than easy and boring.
Hahaha, now Mark and Daniel are fighting outside the art gallery and just fell in the fountain.
Aanyway, movie is over, now I can stop getting distracted. So Yeah, normally people start these things at the beginning of the year along with their new years resolutions. I broke pretty much all my resolutions for this year. Lets hope the ones for the next are kept.
Today was a rather average day but. Did some washing, did most of the dishes. I would have done all of them but we had alot and my fingers had that shrivelling skin thing going.. you know, like when you stay in the bath too long and then your finger tips look funny.. that’s how my fingers got from all the water from the dishes. Then went to visit family, ate some foodage and came home. Altho the heat made things sticky and difficult I’d say the day was productive I spose. I wonder what tomorrow will bring, hopefully a nice lazy day.
